Gingerbread Literacy Sequencing Activity

This activity was so much fun!  I bought these little mini gingerbread men cookies at the grocery store this weekend and we used them along with these great FREE Teachers Pay Teachers Worksheets.  We discussed what order we like to eat our gingerbread cookies...do you eat the head first?  or the feet?  Then we took that conversation, put it on paper, and made it come true by eating some cookies!  Check out my students' great work!

We started with this worksheet where you circle which body part you are going to eat 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

It ended up looking like this.  Then we had the kids eat their cookies in the same order they had mapped out on the worksheet.  Surprisingly all about 2 of my students really liked the cookies!

Next, we used our cookie map and a basic worksheet to write 4 sentences about the order in which we ate our cookies.

Here is how the worksheets turned out.  The kids also got to draw a picture next to each sentence.  This activity was super visual and hands-on.  All of my students totally got it!  What a great and fun way to work on sequencing, following directions, comprehension, and writing all at the same time!
